Our Story & Legacy

For 50 years, God has planted and sustained a gospel-centered church in this community. We began as Baltimore County Baptist Church under our founding pastor, Rev. Bob Gaiman, and we’ve witnessed the Lord’s faithfulness from one generation to the next.

How It Began
In our founding decade, a small, mission-minded group—shaped by Riverdale Baptist’s church-planting vision—joined a young pastor, Bob Gaiman, to launch a new work. Our first service met at Reisterstown Elementary School; soon after, the church gathered at Franklin Middle School while praying for a permanent home. After persistent effort, God opened an unlikely door and the church acquired the property we still occupy today—a living testimony of His providence.

Raising Leaders, Serving People
Within the first 10 years, God raised up at least five pastors from our fellowship (including George Carr, Bill Young, Gary Bookman, Gan Woodhouse, and George Wagner). Across the decades, Living Hope has become a spiritual family that cares, disciples, and sends—with baptisms, weddings, choirs, Sunday School, VBS, Awana, retreats, and countless moments that have shaped our members’ lives.

Local Heart, Global Reach
Beyond our walls, we serve our community through partners like Alpha Pregnancy Center and Baltimore Rescue Mission, while also supporting missionaries around the world. This reflects our call: to proclaim God’s Word faithfully and the gospel of Christ without apology.

A Church for Generations
Stories from longtime members—such as Lorraine Grodkiewicz (our longest-standing member) and families who arrived in the 1990s—tell of genuine welcome, lasting friendships, and help in hard seasons. As many say, “this church was here when we needed it,” and by God’s grace, it will be here for the generations to come.

What We Celebrate
Our 50-year milestone doesn’t exalt people—it exalts the God who did all of this through people. He led us from door-to-door invitations to today’s worship gatherings; from a first sermon in a public school to a permanent home on our current property. If He has been faithful this far, He will remain faithful— and we believe the best years are ahead.
